Panasonic Avionics Corporation Radomes

Stark/AMI has provided engineering analysis to Panasonic Avionics Corporation to support installation of their Global Communications Suite (GCS) on Airbus aircraft.  The aircraft included multiple variants of the A340, A330, A321, A320 and A319. The Panasonic GCS provides customers with a range of services including Broadband Internet Connections, telephone communications and television reception capabilities.

In support of FAA certification, Stark/AMI has provided engineering analysis with the following services:

  • Performance analysis using the modification drag increment, including takeoff and landing climb performance, en-route climb, drift-down ceiling and cruise performance and fuel burn.
  • Aerodynamic radome loads computed using Stark/AMI’s Euler-based code MGAERO and third party Navier-Stokes code, CFD++.
  • Potential for Impact to compliance with CFR 251(b).
  • Icing analysis using Lewice3D water droplet impingement program and Stark/AMI’s code VSAERO.
  • Geometric bird strike thresholds based on CFR 571(e).
  • Radome decompression analysis using a hull pass-through blow-out analysis.
